How should my patients store XYREM?
Store XYREM in its original container. They can store XYREM at room temperature. They do not need to refrigerate XYREM.
Keep XYREM in a secure place. Keep XYREM out of reach of children and pets. If the patient or someone else accidentally swallows or takes XYREM call 911 and the Poison Control Center.
How do patients dispose of XYREM?
When they can no longer draw medication out of the XYREM bottle, pour any unused XYREM down the drain, scribble on the label with a marker, and then put the empty bottle in the trash. This will help protect against illegal use.
What do they do if their XYREM is lost or stolen?
If their XYREM is lost or stolen, report it right away to the police. Also report it to SDS Pharmacy.
What if they lose their XYREM liquid measuring syringe?
If they misplace or lose their XYREM liquid measuring syringe, contact the XYREM Success Program to have it replaced. They should be instructed not to use a different syringe or try to guess at the correct dose.
